Before answering, truly think about your online business, its future and your search engine and internet marketing strategy. Bargains are always great finds, but cheap SEO is normally exactly what the name implies, it's cheap SEO. This is not to say that affordability shouldn't be a consideration and seriously addressed.

The desire to save some money by doing it yourself is also understandable - if you have the time, the right training materials and/or source(s) to obtain your information, the ability to decipher real usable information from the garbage that proliferates the Internet, and the ability to apply what you are learning.

But trying to save a buck on what can make or break your online business is beyond reasonable. This is a very serious issue that website owners are brushing off without putting serious thought into. What type of quality work do you expect? More importantly, do you truly think that your site will benefit in the long run from cheap SEO?

A recent occurrence provided a reference to a company that provides $7 SEO services - talk about cheap SEO. But that wasn't as disturbing as the portfolio that accompanied this proposal, which did give a little insight into how this organization operates.

After a review of a few of the sites in their portfolio, it was apparent that these website owners thought they were receiving a terrific bargain - but were in essence throwing their online business right into the garbage. This SEO companies portfolio represented some of the worst spam scenarios presented in some time.

Each of the websites listed in their portfolio contained titles (the phrase or terms in the blue bar at the top of every web page) that was stuffed with just about every keyword phrase they could squeeze in, and the same was done with all of the H tags and the web copy.

This doesn't mean that cheap SEO is bad SEO, but in relation to a real world example - you do at times get what you pay for.

First and foremost, there are no magic formulas that guarantee to, or can magically improve a websites rankings in the search engines. You will need, or your search engine marketing agency will need, to analyze your website, your competition across all of the major search engines, research as much as possible and then implement a sound strategy to achieve your goals.

Second, the search engines are always changing the way they rank websites, so build your website for your visitor and not for the search engines.

Third, if you are *only* looking to improve your search engine ranking, you are missing the boat on the community aspect of the web. If you can develop a website that is useful, informative, controversial and/or humorous, to name a few, you can develop a following of loyal visitors that will come back time and time again - regardless of your rankings.

Remember, there are no magic, easy button, quick fixes in the search engine marketing arena. If you are not willing to work and produce something of quality, do not expect to obtain, or maintain, visitors or rankings. Forget about cheap SEO, your main focus should be on providing quality information in your respected field, and plenty of it on a consistent basis! Post a comment here.
